Maternity Leave Policy

 

1.     Purpose and Scope

Maternity leave enables pregnant employees to take time-off from work before and after childbirth or adoption. This policy sets out the rules and procedure governing the maternity leave entitlements for the female employees of the ACCOUNT_JOB_COMPANY(“Company”). The policy must be read in conjunction with the Company’s Paternity Leave and Parental Leave policy to ensure the Employees have a complete understanding of the benefits available to them and their family.

Unless otherwise specified by the Company, the maternity leave policy applies to all the full-time female employees (“Employee”) of the Company.

2.     Eligibility and Entitlements

(a) Employees are eligible to take maternity leave upon completion of at least NUMBER_MONTHS months of continuous employment, prior to the intended start date of the maternity leave.

(b) The Employees are entitled to maternity leave for a maximum of  NUMBER weeks beginning from START_LEAVE weeks before the expected date of delivery; or the expected date of placement of a child in the household.

(c) Employee understands and acknowledges that the maternity leave cannot be accumulated or used in instalments.

3.     Paid Leave

The Company provides for fully paid maternity leave for a maximum period of NUMBER to the Employee

4.     Additional Maternity Leave

At the end of the maternity leave period, the Employee may apply for parental leave to supplement the maternity leave subject to approval by the immediate supervisor. The rules and procedure governing the parental leave are set out in the Parental Leave Policy of the Company.

The Employee also has the option to take annual leave or unpaid leave to extend the maternity leave period subject to the terms of  Leave without Pay policy or the Annual Leave policy, whichever is applicable.

5.     Ante-natal Appointments

Employees are allowed to take reasonable paid time-off to attend pregnancy-related medical appointment including antenatal appointments. Employees must submit evidence of such appointments to their immediate supervisor.

6. Procedure to Schedule Maternity Leave

(a) The Employee must give written notice to the immediate supervisor about her intention to take maternity leave at the end of the 16th week before the expected date of the childbirth or 2 months before the adoption of the child.
