We have studied the catalogue and price list received with your letter, and have no doubt that we could obtain good orders for many of the items. However, we feel that it would not be advantageous to either of our companies to adopt a cash settlement basis.

Nearly all business here is done on credit with varying periods. Your prices are reasonable and your products sound in both design and quality. We, therefore, believe that you could afford to raise your prices sufficiently to cover the cost and fall into line with your competitors in the matter of credit.

In our experience, this would be a sound policy and would greatly strengthen your hold on the market. With the best will in the world to serve you, we are afraid it would be neither worth your while nor ours to continue business on a cash basis. 

If it would help you at all we should be quite willing to assume full responsibility for unsettled accounts and to act as del credere agents for an additional commission of CR.
